Menu of Services: Area Orientation & Tour
AIM will assign you a Relocation Counselor. Your AIM Counselor will work with you to determine your specific needs. AIM will then schedule a local meeting in the area to provide:
- Background information on commutable areas and a driving tour of selected communities
- Comprehensive Relocation package filled with maps & other useful, customized materials.
Rental Tour
If you decide to rent your AIM Counselor will:
- Help you determine what type of rental might be appropriate based on budget, desired length of lease, amenities, etc.
- Explain the mechanics of the rental process (deposits, credit checks, leases).
- Provide an escorted rental tour.
Home Finding Coordination
Your AIM Counselor will help you formulate a plan of action for securing a new home by providing factual information to determine the best community for you.
- Assisting in Realtor Selection
- Continued follow-up until new housing is found
- International Orientation & Tour
Similar to the Domestic Orientation and Tour with emphasis on:
- Banking and insurance issues
- Drivers License concerns
- Social Security process
- The U.S. education system
Settling in Services for International New Hires
Your AIM counselor will work closely with you on specific cultural and international concerns, addressing your individual needs.
- Escort you to the local Social Security Office
- Escort you to the Department of Motor Vehicles
- Locate places of worship, post office, library, shopping malls, gyms, hospital
- Explain the United States school system and arrange visits to schools
- Discuss and help with the use of U.S. currency
- Offer to check in with them every few weeks for six months after arrival date to help with any situation that may arise.
Departure Services
- Your AIM counselor will help your employee with his departure.
- Assistance will be offered in many areas including giving appropriate notice to vacate a leased property, arrange for a move out inspection of the property, and assist with obtaining security deposits.
- Help with canceling car insurance, home insurance, and bank accounts.
- Notify utilities and phone company to disconnect service.
- Remind client to notify post office, cell phone carrier, credit cards, magazines, and other mailings of address change.
- Remind client to cancel newspapers, gym and other club memberships.
- Remind client to ask for all medical, dental, veterinarian, and school records.
- Assist with cleaning service for property.
Educational Assistance
AIM Counselors familiarize Candidate/New Hire with educational opportunities in the area. Evaluation and problem solving of individual needs and escorted tours of appropriate schools is part of the program.
